Another School Year Coming to an End
As the 2017-18 school year comes to a close, I cannot help but smile at the achievements of our students both in and out of the classroom.
Let me begin with one of the Districts largest investments, the Senior class. For the past 13 years these fine young people have slowly evolved and grown into responsible young citizens. As these individuals look towards the next steps in life we thank them for all the good times and memories that they have shared with us along the way. We appreciate the responsibility that they have shown in being positive role models for our underclassmen. We sincerely wish them all the best in their future endeavors and encourage them to remain active alumni at Woodward-Granger.
The overall success of our students remains priority number one. As a system we continue to improve in multiple areas. Some of these areas include but are not limited to: school safety, better overall systematic processes and procedures, further segregation of duties, improved curriculum opportunities for students and continuing to explore ways to invest and retain high quality staff. There is still plenty of work to be done in all of these areas and you can be assured that we will not be complacent in our efforts to provide our children with the best possible experiences.
In addition to student success, managing community growth and planning for the future remain other top priorities. Beginning with staffing the District is slowly acquiring the skilled personnel needed to remain a viable and competitive small school option near an expanding Des Moines metro area. Promoting the expansion of community business is an essential factor in determining how fast the District can keep up with growing infrastructure demands.
Finally, where would we be without the leadership and commitment of our local School Board. These individuals have put in countless volunteer hours to make the many decisions to lead our District. These commitments are not the easiest but at the end of the day their time and efforts are highly appreciated. With this month being National School Board recognition month, I would kindly ask each one of you to help me thank these individuals.
