The Woodward-Granger CSD is very interested in forming effective partnerships with our two communities. Partnerships work when both parties are able to accomplish their own individual goals as well as achieve mutual goals that benefit both parties. We believe there is a tremendous opportunity to partner with one another in a joint effort to make our communities and school district thrive.
Every citizen can play a role in community and school development. Citizens can focus on strengthening the local leadership by running for a public office such as city council or the school board. In addition, there are opportunities to serve on city or school committees. Further, you can show support of the school and community by voting on issues that strengthen the economic viability and physical infrastructure surrounding our communities.
Family support is a vital component of a strong community-school partnership. The safety and well-being of our families is protected by well-trained law enforcement and emergency personnel. Citizens in our communities have access to community centers for public use and libraries for extending learning opportunities. We have chiropractic care for our citizens to ensure overall health and well-being as well as support for our companion animals. Lastly, we have a children’s center to support our children in the community. These various services are examples of how we can enhance family life in our communities.
Family and community engagement is essential for an effective community-school partnership. Whether it’s participating in community celebrations like Friends and Family Day or Granger Days, enrolling in one of the many robust Parks and Rec Programs or supporting school-affiliated contests and events our citizens can get involved and engaged in their communities.
Quality education is the backbone of a vibrant and flourishing community. We want to create an effective, efficient, aligned and cohesive educational system that prepares students for a bright future. The school must use all of the
community’s assets as resources for learning and involve students in solving real-world problems. A couple great examples would be David Combs’ Business Experience Class taking the lead in organizing the College and Career Fair on Thursday, March 12th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the high school. In addition, Andrew Hopper’s Government Class investigated, developed and presented solutions to a variety of authentic community projects.
An opportunity for a strong partnership between Woodward, Granger and the school district is in reach! Everyone is invited to the high school on Wednesday, April 1st starting at 6:00 pm. We will have a number of food trucks in the
parking lot for families to purchase meals. At 7:00 pm we will move into the commons area and the mayors and I will be discussing our common vision, mutual goals and a call to action for our citizens to get engaged with our communities and school! Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!
