Dear WG Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! With only a few short days until the first school bells of the year I would like to welcome both our returning families and those who are new to our District. If you are new or returning to the District and have not yet registered for classes please do so at your earliest convenience by logging into our website at https://wghawks. school. Here you will find instructions for registering if you are new to the District and for those returning.
This summer much work has gone into improving and upgrading many of our facilities in the District. From new pavement, new layout and safety upgrades at the ELC playground, greater security and exterior door replacement at the Middle School/High School to new scoreboards, paint and resurfacing of our existing Middle School gym. All of these physical improvements to help make your child’s experience at WG more enjoyable. Thank you to everyone that contributed to making these summer projects run efficiently.
The Woodward-Granger Board of Education and District administrators spend a great deal of time during the summer preparing for the upcoming school year. These efforts will be reflected in the upgrades of an online and interactive student/ parent handbook, succinct goal setting for the District by the Board and added staff and additional support throughout the various buildings. All these small things contribute to what we know will be a smooth opening to the 2018-19 school year.
With school beginning on August 23rd, the District encourages you to attend Back to School Nights set for August 17th from 5-7 p.m. for the MS/HS, August 20th from 5-7 p.m. for the ELC/Elementary and August 21st from 4-6 p.m. for Grandwood. These nights are a chance to meet the staff, hear the annual expectations and familiarize yourselves with the various buildings of our District.
Back to school is a perfect time for those of us involved in education to develop new goals, build new relationships and embark on the journey of teaching and learning. Our District and Board goals this year highlight a continued investment in staff and training, increased student achievement, community engagement and the additions of quality programming and growth for the future. It remains our belief that it takes everyone to educate a child and to take on the academic and social-emotional challenges our students encounter.
As we begin the 2018-19 school year, please know that we are here for the best interest of you and your families and we will continue to strive to maintain a positive school experience.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson
Superintendent
