Welcome to Woodward-Granger Middle School!
At Woodward-Granger our mission is to "build futures one student at a time through a supportive culture of high expectations." The middle school serves a growing population of approximately approximately 240 students in grades 6-8 averaging 75-80 students per grade level. The middle school philosophy is to focus on the entire student helping them grow as an individual, student, citizen, and an active participant in the school setting. It is our hope to provide students with learning opportunities both in and out of school to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Highlights of our middle school instruction would be our literacy programming, intervention efforts, and our work to give our students life experiences beyond the classroom. In 2023, WGMS was ranked in the top 30% of middle schools in Iowa and scored higher than the state average in all areas of reading, math, and science on the Iowa School Performance Profile.
Although our achievement is very good, we work continuously to improve our students' abilities with a focus on our Multi-Tiered System of Supports. Along with strong Tier 1 classroom instruction, students receive Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction and intervention both in and out of the general classroom and in our advisory Hawk Time. Further, we take great pride in fostering a sense of responsibility and citizenship among our students by diligently providing meaningful volunteer opportunities in our communities, ensuring they not only excel academically, but also actively contribute to making a positive impact on the world around them.
We focus on building skills for students to be successful and are proud of their progress!
